Bosch Serie 4 Washer Dryer in Dubai: Models, Capacity, Drying Limits and Repairs
A Bosch Serie 4 washer dryer sells in Dubai under at least two different drying capacities. Bosch UAE's own product pages for two Serie 4 codes say "9 kg / 5 kg". A UAE retailer lists a similar code as 9 kg wash and 6 kg dry. The Bosch UK page for another Serie 4 says 8 kg and 5 kg. If you own one, are shopping for one or need one repaired, the figure that matters is the drying capacity, and it is the one that people get wrong.
This page sets out what Bosch's own pages say about the Serie 4 washer dryer in the UAE, the UK and Ireland, where those pages and a retailer's listing disagree, and what that means for how much you can dry, what to photograph before you call a technician, and what a repair costs in Dubai. It follows our guide to the Bosch Serie 6 washer dryer, so the comparison with that range is short and the rest is about the Serie 4.
We repair Bosch appliances. We are an independent company and not an authorised Bosch agent. Where this page says "Bosch says", it names the Bosch page and the country. Where it says "ours", it is our own reading. If your washer dryer is inside Bosch's warranty, contact Bosch first. Our Bosch customer care guide lists the official channels, and our washer dryer repair page covers the faults and the full price table.
At a glance
- Bosch UAE lists two Serie 4 washer dryers: WNA2440ZGC and WNA2440XGC, both "Series 4 washer dryer 9 kg / 5 kg". The XGC page gives the colour as silver. Both list 1400 rpm, 49 dB(A) for washing, SilentPowerDrive and 848 x 598 x 590 mm.
- The drying figure is 5 kg on Bosch's UAE pages, not 6. A UAE retailer lists WNA244X0GC as 9 kg wash and 6 kg dry, and calls it a Series 4. We cannot tell from Bosch's pages whether it is the same model as either Bosch UAE code.
- Other Bosch markets: the UK's WNA134U8GB is 8 kg wash and 5 kg wash-and-dry. Ireland's WNA144V9GB is 9 kg and 5 kg. Both pages give energy class E.
- Bosch UAE's one rule for drying: "A washer-dryer works best when you don't fill it up too much."
- Not present on the UK page: Hygiene Care and Allergy Plus. The Irish page also says no Home Connect and no interior light. Both list AutoDry, Wash & Dry 60', SpeedPerfect and a Reload function.
- The specs conflict on four points (motor name, noise, weight and water protection). We show them in a table and do not pick a winner.
- A repair in Dubai: typically AED 150 to 780 before 5% VAT across the washer dryer fault range, with a 90-day warranty on our repairs.
What "Serie 4" means on a washer dryer
Bosch sells appliances in ranges numbered 2, 4, 6 and 8. On a washer dryer the number tells you where the machine sits in the feature ladder, not what is inside it. Our washer dryer page says the series number "tells you the feature level, not the parts inside", and the model code on the rating plate is what decides which pump, lock or module your machine uses.

The Serie 4 is the second of the four ranges. The Bosch UK page for one Serie 4 lists AutoDry, a Reload function, SilentPowerDrive and child safety devices, and lists several extras as absent. We go through them below.
Wash and dry in one drum
A washer dryer washes and then dries in the same drum, with one door and one control module. That is different from a washing machine and a separate tumble dryer, and it is the reason the two capacity figures exist. Our Serie 6 guide explains why the drying figure is smaller than the washing figure, and we do not repeat all of it here. The short version is that drying needs air to move through the clothes, and a crowded drum blocks it.
The models Bosch UAE lists
Bosch UAE has product pages for two Serie 4 washer dryers. We read both on 2 November 2026. The specification sections on both pages came back with headings and no values, so what we can report is the technical overview.

What these pages do not give
Neither page, as we read it, gave:
- The programme list or the drying features.
- An energy class or water use.
- A weight.
- A warranty.
- Any mention of water protection such as AquaStop.
The pages list a Product Specification Sheet and a user manual. Their contents were not in what we could read. For anything beyond the table, use those documents or ask Bosch, and photograph the rating plate so the right document is found.
The two codes
The only difference we can see between the two pages is the colour. We do not know whether the letters Z and X in the code mean the colour, the market or a version, and Bosch's pages do not say. Ours: treat them as two model codes and give the one on your rating plate in full.
Other Bosch markets: the 8/5 kg and 9/5 kg machines
Bosch's UK and Irish pages give a fuller specification than the UAE pages, so they are the best look we have at what a Serie 4 washer dryer includes. They are other markets. Voltage, plug, warranty and features can differ from the UAE, so use them as a guide to the range and not as a statement about a machine sold in Dubai.

What the two pages share
The cabinet is the same size on all four Bosch pages we read: 848 x 598 x 590 mm. The wash-and-dry capacity is 5 kg on all four. The UK 8 kg and Irish 9 kg models differ in the washing figure and in water use, and the Irish page gives slightly higher water figures. Both pages list a freestanding, stackable, white machine, a 210 cm power cord, and a voltage of 220 to 240 V.
The 8 kg question
People search for "Bosch washing machine 8 kg with dryer". On Bosch's pages the 8 kg washer dryer we found is the UK's WNA134U8GB, which is described as 8 kg washing and 5 kg wash-and-dry. We found no 8 kg washer dryer on Bosch UAE. If you own an 8/5 kg machine bought in Dubai, check the rating plate. We do not know of a UAE-market 8/5 kg code and will not guess one.
Features the UK page names
The UK page names Wash & Dry 60', SpeedPerfect, AutoDry, SilentPowerDrive, Iron Assist and Active Water Plus as key features. Under comfort it lists the Reload function, a digital countdown indicator, start delay, an overdose display, balance control and child safety devices. Programmes include whites and coloureds, easy-care, delicates, woollens hand wash, and options such as Super Quick 15, Mixed Load, Drain / Spin, SportsWear, Single Rinse, Easy iron, Prewash, Refresh, Intensive dry, MyTime Dry and Low heat drying program. The page lists a temperature control and a cold wash option as present.
Where the sources conflict
The Serie 4 washer dryer is a model where one source says one thing and another says something close but different. We show each source and do not choose.
| Point | Bosch UAE | Bosch UK and Ireland | UAE retailer (ACE) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drying capacity | 5 kg (WNA2440ZGC, WNA2440XGC) | 5 kg (WNA134U8GB, WNA144V9GB) | 6 kg (WNA244X0GC), 5 kg (WNA2440ZGC) |

Reading the table
These are not all contradictions. Some are differences in what each page measures, and some are differences between models that look alike.
Drying capacity. The retailer lists a 6 kg dry figure for WNA244X0GC and a 5 kg figure for WNA2440ZGC, which Bosch UAE also lists at 5 kg. The retailer's WNA2440ZGC matches a Bosch UAE code exactly and agrees at 5 kg. Its WNA244X0GC is spelled almost like Bosch UAE's WNA2440XGC. We cannot tell whether it is a different model or the same one written differently. Bosch UAE's pages are the manufacturer's, and the retailer's listing is a retailer's. For a machine you already own, neither settles the matter. The rating plate and the manual do.
Noise. The numbers are not like for like. Bosch UAE gives a noise level for washing. The UK and Irish pages give "airborne noise" without naming a cycle. The retailer gives a single dB figure. We do not know what each measures, so we do not compare them.
Motor. Three Bosch pages in three countries name the motor SilentPowerDrive. Only the retailer's listing for WNA244X0GC says EcoSilence Drive. Our carbon brushes guide notes that Bosch Australia and Hong Kong describe EcoSilence Drive as working without carbon brushes. The retailer's wording may be a different product, a different version, or a listing error. We cannot say. It matters in a repair because the motor type decides the parts, so give the E-Nr and let the technician confirm what is fitted.
Weight. The 71.9 kg is Bosch's figure for the UK and Irish models. The 81.4 kg is the retailer's figure for another code. A 10 kg gap between machines with the same cabinet size is large enough that we would not assume they are the same model. It is also large enough to matter for carrying the machine up stairs.
Water protection. Bosch UK and Ireland list "Aquasecure" as present and "AquaStop" as absent. The retailer lists an "Aqua Stop function" for WNA244X0GC. The two names are not the same on Bosch's UK page, which lists them as separate fields. If a leak is the fault, give the technician the full model code, because we cannot tell from these pages which protection your machine has.
The takeaway
Copy the code from your own rating plate. Do not rely on the series name on a box, the capacity on a listing, or the motor name on a retailer's page. Our spare parts guide shows how Bosch's parts lookup uses the E-Nr.
Serie 4 against Serie 6
Our Serie 6 guide lists the features Bosch names on its Serie 6 washer dryer pages: AutoDry, Wash & Dry in 60 minutes, SpeedPerfect, Reload, Hygiene Care, and on some models Iron Assist, SilentPowerDrive and waveDrum. The UK Serie 4 page overlaps on most of these.
| Feature | Serie 4 (UK page, WNA134U8GB) | Serie 6 (per our Serie 6 guide) |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 8 / 5 kg; the 9/5 kg models are on other pages | 10 / 6 kg (Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore), 9 / 6 kg (UK) |
| Spin speed | 1400 rpm on the 9/5 kg pages | 1400 rpm on every page we read |
| AutoDry | Yes | Yes |
| Wash & Dry 60' | Yes | Yes |
| SpeedPerfect | Yes | Yes |
| Reload | Yes | Yes |
| Hygiene Care | No | Yes, on the 10/6 kg pages |
| Allergy Plus | No | Not checked |
| Home Connect | No | Not checked |
| SilentPowerDrive, waveDrum | Yes | Hong Kong page |
What the difference is, and is not
The UK Serie 4 page lists Hygiene Care, Allergy Plus and automatic stain removal as "no", and does not list i-DOS, Home Connect or an interior light. The Irish page says no to Home Connect and the interior light. The visible gap between the two ranges, on these pages, is capacity and the hygiene and connected extras. It is not the basic wash and dry functions.
We do not claim the machines are the same inside. Our washer dryer page says the series number does not tell you the parts. We also cannot tell you how the two ranges compare for reliability, since no Bosch page we read speaks to it, and we will not invent a comparison.
Choosing between them
Ours, for a buyer: start from the drying figure you need. If your usual drying load is above 5 kg, a Serie 4 at 5 kg is not the machine, and the Serie 6 at 6 kg is only a kilogram larger. In that case the right answer may be a washing machine and a separate dryer. Our washer dryer page notes that two machines usually cost more and need more floor space, which is often the reason a combination machine was chosen.
What 5 kg of drying means
The 5 kg figure is the number Bosch gives for "Maximum capacity in kg in a Wash/Dry cycle" on the Irish page and "Capacity cotton drying" on the UAE pages. It is a maximum for cotton, and it is not the weight of a load you can wash. A 9 kg wash load put into a drying programme is almost twice the figure.
Bosch UAE's rule
Bosch UAE's page on washer dryers says a washer dryer "works best when you don't fill it up too much." The Bosch UAE support page for a washer dryer that is not drying lists the symptoms and tells you to call the customer service team. It gives no capacity figures and no checks, so the load size is the only advice Bosch UAE gives that you can act on without a technician.
How to tell what 5 kg is
Ours, not Bosch's: weigh the dry laundry once, by standing on bathroom scales with and without the basket, and note how full the drum looks at 5 kg. After that you can judge a load by eye.
Wash & Dry 60'
The UK page describes Wash & Dry 60 as the programme that will "wash and dry small loads efficiently in just 60 min". The page does not say what small means. Our Serie 6 guide treats it as a small-load tool, and we do the same here. If a 60-minute run leaves a big load damp, that is the programme working within its description.
What Bosch does not say about drying
None of the Bosch pages we read for the Serie 4 says how the machine dries. The drying method (vented, condenser or heat pump) is not stated on the UK page, and the UAE pages list nothing about it. The drying time for a 5 kg load is not given. Neither is the power used by a drying cycle, beyond the energy class E and a water figure for a full wash and dry.
We therefore do not say whether your Serie 4 is a condenser machine, how long it takes to dry a full load or what a cycle costs. Your manual does. Our washer dryer page says some models use water from the supply to condense moisture during drying, and that your manual says whether yours does.
Reading the rating plate
The E-Nr is on the rating plate. Bosch UAE's pages for other appliances say it starts with three letters and ends with a "/" and two numbers. The Bosch UK page for the WNA134U8GB shows the identifier "WNA134U8GB/01" and passes it to its support and registration links, so a Serie 4 E-Nr has the same shape as the code with a slash and two digits added.
Our customer care guide says the plate on a washer dryer is usually inside the door opening or on the back panel. Photograph it before you call. Bosch Singapore's repair guidance says the plate also carries the FD production number.
Why the code matters on this range
The series name does not tell you the parts. The sources above show five codes that all carry the name Series 4, with capacities of 8/5, 9/5 and 9/6 kg, two different weights and three different noise figures. A pump, a door lock or a control module that fits one may not fit another. Our spare parts guide covers the lookup, and the short version is to send the full code and not the series.
What to photograph
- The rating plate, with the E-Nr and FD number.
- The display, with any code, at the moment it shows.
- The drum with the load you were drying, if the problem is damp clothes.
- Any water on the floor or around the door seal.
Faults on a Serie 4 washer dryer, and what they cost
A Serie 4 washer dryer has the same two halves as any washer dryer. The wash side uses the pump, inlet valve, motor and door lock, and the drying side adds a heater, a temperature sensor, a fan, a moisture sensor and a path for moist air. Our washer dryer page covers each fault. This section is the short version for a Serie 4 owner, with the costs.
| Fault | Usual cause | Time on site | Price (AED, before VAT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Not draining | Blocked pump filter, failed drain pump | 45 to 90 min | 150 – 320 |
| Not filling | Inlet screens, inlet valve | 45 to 90 min | 160 – 300 |
| Damp clothes, airflow blocked | Lint in the condenser, duct or fan | 60 to 90 min | 180 – 320 |
| No heat or lukewarm | Heater, thermostat, temperature sensor | 60 to 120 min | 280 – 520 |
| Cycle runs too long | Coated or failed moisture sensor | 45 to 90 min | 180 – 340 |
| Leaking | Door seal, hose, condensing path | 45 to 120 min | 180 – 380 |
| Not spinning or noisy | Motor, imbalance sensor, worn bearings | 60 to 240 min | 220 – 780 |
| Won't start | Door lock, control module | 60 to 150 min | 250 – 650 |
These are the ranges on our washer dryer page. They are not specific to the Serie 4 and we have no Serie 4 figures of our own to give. The rest of this section is about the points where the range matters.
Damp clothes: check the load first
On a Serie 4 with a 5 kg drying figure, the first suspect is the load. Our washer dryer page says that most "my washer dryer does not dry" calls are a load-size problem. Dry half and see. If a half load comes out dry and a full load does not, the machine is working to its capacity.
If the half load is still damp, the checks that belong to you are the lint filter or condenser access, the door seal and the drain path. Our washer dryer page lists them. Bosch UAE's drying page lists the symptoms and says faulty parts "should only be repaired by a professional".
A leak, and the water protection
The UK and Irish pages list Aquasecure on the Serie 4 and say AquaStop is not present. We do not know what Aquasecure covers, since neither page defines it, and we do not know what protection a UAE Serie 4 has. For a leak, the practical steps are the same: stop the cycle, turn off the tap, and photograph where the water is. Water at the door points to the seal, and water from underneath points to a hose or the pump. Our washing machine door seal guide and drain pump guide cover the wash-side causes.
Spin and noise
Bosch lists SilentPowerDrive as "efficient and extra silent". If the machine is loud on spin, ours is the usual first check: an unbalanced load, and a machine that is not level. The feet adjust by up to 12 mm on the UK page. Bearings are the heavy repair. Bosch US says loud grinding or knocking that continues may point to worn drum bearings or suspension problems, and our drum bearing guide covers the wash-side repair. On a washer dryer it is the same drum, so the same guide applies.
Won't start
A door lock that does not engage and a control module that has failed produce the same symptom on a washer dryer as on a washing machine: the machine will not start, or it stops at the change from washing to drying. Our door lock guide has the reset checks that belong to the owner. Our washer dryer page lists a stop at the changeover from washing to drying under the same causes, the door lock or the control module.
The cost in practice
The AED 99 inspection includes the visit, the diagnosis and a written quote. If you approve the repair, the AED 99 comes off the repair price. If you decline, it is all you pay.
A worked example: a Serie 4 leaks at the door, and the technician finds a split seal. The all-in price is AED 300, with the AED 99 inspection included. VAT at 5% adds AED 15, so you pay AED 315. If you decline the quote, you pay AED 99 plus AED 4.95 VAT, a total of AED 103.95.
Three things move a quote within its range: the part, the access and the stock. A built-in machine behind a cabinet panel takes longer to pull out than a freestanding one. Model-specific parts such as control modules are ordered once the fault is confirmed. We carry the common parts for popular Bosch models.
Size, weight and access
The four Bosch pages agree on the cabinet: 848 mm high, 598 mm wide and 590 mm deep. The UK and Irish pages add a depth of 1,063 mm with the door open to 90 degrees, a feet adjustment of up to 12 mm, and a 210 cm power cord. The Bosch UAE pages give the 848 x 598 x 590 mm figure.
The door-open depth
The 1,063 mm figure is the one to check against your space. A machine that fits a 600 mm niche still needs over a metre in front of it to open the door fully. In a narrow kitchen or a utility closet, that decides whether you can load it.
Weight
The Bosch UK and Irish pages give 71.9 kg. The retailer lists 81.4 kg for WNA244X0GC. Either is heavy enough that moving it takes two people. If you are moving a machine up stairs or through a lift, ask the seller for the weight of the exact code. Tell us about stairs, lifts and tight access when you book.
Stacking
The UK and Irish pages describe the machine as stackable. They do not say what is stackable with it, what kit is needed or what weight the stack carries. Follow the manual before stacking anything.
Built in or freestanding
The Serie 4 pages we read are freestanding. Bosch UAE has a separate built-in washer dryer category that we did not read. If yours is built in behind a cabinet door, tell us, because it takes longer to pull out and refit.
Warranty: what the pages say
The warranty wording differs by page, and the differences are worth knowing before you buy or claim.
| Source | What it says |
|---|---|
| Bosch UK (WNA134U8GB) | A "5 Year Warranty" badge. The terms are on a separate Bosch page that we did not read |
| Bosch Ireland (WNA144V9GB) | "5 Year Warranty" only if you buy between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027 and register within 3 months |
| UAE retailer (ACE, WNA244X0GC) | "1 year standard warranty", and a "manufacturer warranty: yes" field |
| Bosch UAE (WNA2440ZGC, WNA2440XGC) | Not given on the pages we read |
What to do
If you bought your Serie 4 in the UAE, the warranty that applies is the one in your paperwork, from the retailer or from Bosch. We cannot tell you the length from the pages above. Keep the invoice, note the E-Nr, and ask the retailer for the warranty terms in writing. If you are inside the warranty, contact Bosch before anyone opens the machine. Our authorised versus independent guide explains how a repair by someone else may affect a claim, and why wording matters.
Reading a listing before you buy or book
Ours, not Bosch's. The Serie 4 shows how much two listings for the "same" machine can differ. Before you rely on a listing:
- Find the full model code, not just "Bosch Serie 4 washer dryer".
- Read both capacities. 9 kg is the wash figure. The drying figure is the second number.
- Check the energy class. The UK and Ireland pages give E. The ACE listing for WNA244X0GC gives none.
- Check the weight and noise against the code, not against the series.
- Ask which warranty applies and for how long.
- Treat the retailer's feature list as the retailer's. "EcoSilence Drive" on one listing, "SilentPowerDrive" on Bosch's pages.
Questions to ask before you approve a quote
- Which part will be fitted, and what is its number? It should be on the quote and the invoice.
- Is this a wash-side or a drying-side fault? The answer decides the part.
- What did you test? A heater, sensor or lock should be tested before it is replaced.
- Is the part in stock? If it is not, ask for the date.
- What is the warranty on the part and on the labour?
- If the price changes after the part is found, will you tell me before you start?
Repair or replace
Our washer dryer page gives a workable rule: if the repair costs more than about half of a comparable new machine, or if the machine is past ten years old and has had two serious faults, replace it. Compare the written quote with the current price of a new machine. We do not quote retailer prices on this page because the listings we read carry no date.
If you replace it, you choose between another combination machine and a washer and a separate dryer. Our washer dryer page covers that trade-off.
We will tell you when a repair is not worth it. If our advice is to buy new, you owe only the inspection fee.
What the sources leave open
- Which drying method the Serie 4 uses. No page we read says.
- How long a full wash and dry cycle takes. Only the 60-minute small-load programme is named.
- Whether WNA244X0GC is the same machine as WNA2440XGC. We could not tell.
- What Aquasecure covers. The pages name it and do not define it.
- The Bosch UAE specification sections. They were empty in what we read.
- Warranty terms for a Serie 4 bought in Dubai.
- How the Serie 4 compares with the Serie 6 for reliability. No Bosch page speaks to it.
- Whether other UAE codes exist. We found two on Bosch UAE and one on a retailer.
What to tell us
Send the E-Nr and FD number from the plate, a photograph of the plate and the display, and a line on what the machine does. Say whether the problem is on the wash or the dry side, whether you dried a full or a half load, and whether the machine is freestanding or built in. We confirm a time window and the price range before we set off.
Frequently asked questions
How much can a Bosch Serie 4 washer dryer dry?
Bosch UAE lists 5 kg of cotton drying for WNA2440ZGC and WNA2440XGC. Bosch UK and Ireland also list 5 kg. A UAE retailer lists 6 kg for WNA244X0GC. Check the rating plate and your manual.
Is the Bosch Serie 4 washer dryer 9 kg or 8 kg?
Bosch UAE lists 9 kg of washing for its two Serie 4 codes. Bosch UK lists an 8 kg model, WNA134U8GB, which we did not find on Bosch UAE.
What is the difference between Serie 4 and Serie 6 washer dryers?
On Bosch's pages, the Serie 4 lists no Hygiene Care, Allergy Plus, i-DOS or Home Connect, and has smaller capacities. Both list AutoDry, Wash & Dry 60', SpeedPerfect and Reload. We cannot compare reliability from Bosch's pages.
Is WNA244X0GC a Serie 4 or Serie 6?
A UAE retailer calls it a Series 4. We did not find a Bosch page for that exact code, and Bosch UAE's Serie 4 codes are spelled WNA2440ZGC and WNA2440XGC. Read the code on your rating plate.
Does the Serie 4 washer dryer have a condenser, heat pump or vent?
No page we read says. Your manual does, and so does the technician who services it.
How long does a wash and dry cycle take?
The UK page names Wash & Dry 60' for small loads. No page we read gives a time for a full 5 kg load.
Why are my clothes still damp after drying?
The first cause is the load. Dry half and see. Bosch UAE says a washer dryer works best when you do not fill it too much. If a half load is still damp, book an inspection.
Does the Serie 4 have AquaStop?
Bosch UK and Ireland list Aquasecure as present and AquaStop as absent. A UAE retailer lists an Aqua Stop function for WNA244X0GC. We cannot reconcile them.
How loud is it?
Bosch UAE gives 49 dB(A) for washing. The UK and Irish pages give 70 dB(A) airborne noise without naming a cycle. These are not like for like.
How much does a Serie 4 washer dryer repair cost in Dubai?
Typically AED 150 to 780 before 5% VAT, depending on the fault, with the AED 99 inspection credited to the repair and a 90-day warranty on ours.
Is it worth repairing an older Serie 4?
If the repair costs less than about half a comparable new machine and the machine has not had two serious faults, usually yes. We tell you when it is not worth it.
Can I stack a Serie 4 washer dryer?
The UK and Irish pages call it stackable but do not say what it stacks with. Follow the manual.
Do you repair Bosch washer dryers across Dubai?
Yes. Typical arrival is 50 to 75 minutes after the technician sets off, for same-day jobs booked before 4 pm.
