Bosch Serie 2 Washing Machine UAE: Models and Repair

Serie 2 models found in the UAE, where the spec sheets disagree, how to use one, and what repairs cost in Dubai.

A technician in navy dungarees, a white T-shirt and a cap kneels at a front-loading washing machine, reaching into the open drum with a wrench in hand and a tool belt at his waist.

Bosch Serie 2 Washing Machine in Dubai: Models, Features and Repair

The Bosch Serie 2 is the entry range of Bosch's four washing machine series. In the UAE we found three Serie 2 front loaders on retailer pages: the 7 kg WAJ2017SGC, the 8 kg WAJ20180GC and the 7 kg WAK20200GC. All three spin at up to 1000 rpm, and all three were listed as out of stock with no price when we checked on 2 November 2026. We also found a fourth code, the WAJ20170GC, but its page would not load.

That thin evidence is the first thing to know. The second is that the sources disagree with each other. Bosch's own series table says the Serie 2 spins up to 1400 rpm and takes up to 7 kg. The UAE listings say 1000 rpm, and one of them says 8 kg. Bosch's Malaysian site labels the 8 kg WAJ20180SG a Series 4, while Bosch Egypt labels the near-identical WAJ2018SEG a Series 2. This page shows each source and tells you how to confirm your own machine, because the rating plate settles what the listings cannot.

It also covers what the Serie 2 does and does not have, how to use one (programmes, loads and display symbols, from Bosch manuals for similar codes), the problems that bring Serie 2 owners to us, and what repairs cost in Dubai. We are an independent Bosch appliance repair company, not the manufacturer, and we are not an authorised Bosch agent. If your machine is inside Bosch's warranty, contact Bosch first.

At a glance

  • UAE Serie 2 codes found: WAJ2017SGC (7 kg), WAJ20180GC (8 kg) and WAK20200GC (7 kg). The WAK20200GC listing names no series
  • Spin speed: up to 1000 rpm on all three listings
  • Not included, per Bosch Egypt's page for a sibling model: Home Connect, i-DOS dosing and an interior light
  • Price: we found no current UAE price. The Sharaf DG listings show none and are out of stock
  • Repairs in Dubai: typically AED 150 to AED 780 before 5% VAT, with a 90-day warranty on our repairs

Where the Serie 2 sits in Bosch's range

Bosch numbers its washing machine series 2, 4, 6 and 8, and the number tells you the feature level. The table below comes from Bosch's series comparison, which our Serie 4 guide also quotes.

Serie 2 Serie 4 Serie 6 Serie 8
Capacity on Bosch's series page Up to 7 kg Up to 8 kg Up to 9 kg Up to 10 kg
Spin speed range 400 to 1400 rpm 400 to 1400 rpm 400 to 1400 rpm 400 to 1600 rpm
Lowest noise listed (wash / spin) 59 / 77 dB 53 / 73 dB 48 / 72 dB 44 / 68 dB
Home Connect Not listed Not listed Not listed Yes
Automatic detergent dosing (i-DOS) Not listed Not listed Yes Yes

Bosch describes its own table as a rough overview for orientation only, and the Serie 2 row shows why. Two of its figures do not match the UAE listings:

Spin speed. The table gives a range up to 1400 rpm. Every UAE Serie 2 listing we found says a maximum of 1000 rpm, and so do both Bosch regional pages we read. Our reading: the range on the table describes the series across markets, and the machines sold here sit at the lower end.

Noise. The table's lowest figure for the Serie 2 is 59 dB when washing. The WAJ2017SGC listing says 54 dB, Bosch Malaysia says 54 dB, Bosch Egypt says 52 dB and the WAK20200GC listing says 56 dB. These are all quieter than the table's "lowest noise listed". We cannot reconcile them. Treat any single figure as approximate, and look at the rating plate and the energy label on your own machine.

The practical point is that the Serie 2 is the range to look at when the budget matters more than the extras. It leaves out the app control, the automatic dosing and the touch display that raise the price of the higher series. Our Serie 4, Serie 6 and Serie 8 guides cover the step-ups.

Bosch Serie 2 washing machine models sold in the UAE

We found four Serie 2 or Serie 2-like codes on UAE retailer pages, and read three of them in full. The table shows what each page says and nothing more.

Model Capacity and spin Listed details Price and stock
WAJ2017SGC 7 kg, 1000 rpm "Serie 2". Silver, LED display, 54 dB wash and 72 dB spin, 848 x 598 x 590 mm, 67.34 kg, Reload, multiple water protection, foam and unbalanced-load detection, self-cleaning detergent drawer No price shown. Out of stock at Sharaf DG
WAJ20180GC 8 kg, 1000 rpm "Serie 2". LED display, 848 x 598 x 590 mm, 67.54 kg, 220 to 240 V, Start/Reload, multiple water protection, foam control. Noise and warranty not listed No price shown. Out of stock at Sharaf DG
WAK20200GC 7 kg, 1000 rpm No series named. White, 56 dB, 72 kg, 540 W, 32 litres per cycle, stainless steel drum, made in Turkey. Dimensions not listed No price shown. Out of stock at Sharaf DG
WAJ20170GC Not read The Sharaf DG page failed to load Not read

Five things in that table need a warning.

None of them showed a price. We looked for UAE retailer prices for these codes and found none that we could rely on. We did see individual classified listings, but those are private sellers and not a price list, so we do not quote them. If you are buying, ask the seller for the price and the warranty in writing.

Out of stock at one retailer does not mean the model is discontinued. We read one retailer's pages. Stock changes, and a different seller may have the machine.

The series label differs between sellers. Sharaf DG labels the WAJ2017SGC and WAJ20180GC "Serie 2" and names no series for the WAK20200GC. Do not assume the WAK20200GC is a Serie 2 because it looks similar. Check the rating plate, and read the next section.

The energy rating is described in different ways. The WAJ2017SGC listing shows "3 Energy Stars" and A+++ in its table, with 139 kWh annual use and 9,900 litres of water a year. The WAJ20180GC listing shows three stars and an energy label image with no letter. The WAK20200GC listing says "Champion energy saver A+++". Bosch Malaysia lists the energy class of the WAJ20180SG as "Not applicable". We do not know which scheme each label uses, so we do not compare them.

The weights differ. The WAK20200GC is listed at 72 kg, against 67.34 kg for the WAJ2017SGC and 67.54 kg for the WAJ20180GC. That matters for the lift and for the floor. If you are moving a machine up a staircase in a villa, check the weight on your own plate.

What Bosch's own regional pages say about the sibling code

We could not open a Bosch UAE product page for these codes. Two Bosch regional pages cover the near-identical WAJ20180 family, and they help to show what the UAE listings leave out.

Bosch Egypt, WAJ2018SEG Bosch Malaysia, WAJ20180SG
Series label Series 2 Series 4 (in the page's description)
Capacity, spin 8 kg, 1000 rpm 8 kg, 1000 rpm
Noise (wash / spin) 52 / 72 dB 54 / 72 dB
Energy class A+++ Not applicable
Size, weight 848 x 598 x 590 mm, 66.4 kg 848 x 598 x 590 mm, 66.7 kg
Drum volume Not listed 63 litres
Warranty shown 5-year overall and 10-year motor Not shown
Status Out of stock "Product is no longer available"

What this tells us. The WAJ2018 and WAJ20180 codes are the same size and speed, with similar noise figures, yet one Bosch site calls the machine a Series 2 and another a Series 4. Our reading: Bosch's series labels can differ by market for the same hardware, so the number on the listing is a guide and not a specification. We are not saying either page is wrong.

Do not carry regional warranties across. The Egyptian page's 5-year overall warranty applies to that market. The UAE listings we read state no warranty at all. Your invoice or warranty card tells you what you have.

What the Serie 2 gives you, and what it leaves out

The list below combines the two Bosch regional pages and the three UAE listings. Where only one source names a feature, we say so.

SilentPowerDrive and the motor warranty. Both Bosch regional pages describe "SilentPowerDrive: the durable washing machine drive, with a 10-year warranty", and Bosch Egypt lists a brushless BLDC motor. Our Serie 4 guide names the Serie 2 motor "EcoSilence Drive" after Bosch's series table. We cannot tell whether those are two names for one motor or two different motors. The UAE listings do not mention either, so the 10-year motor warranty is not confirmed for UAE stock.

SpeedPerfect. Bosch Egypt says it gives "perfectly clean in up to 65% less time". That figure is Bosch's claim, and the page does not say how it was measured, so we do not repeat it as a result you will see. The Sharaf DG WAJ2017SGC listing names "Vario Perfect" for time or energy savings through programme options. The manuals we read (below) show the practical effect: with SpeedPerfect selected, the maximum cotton load drops from 7 kg to 4 kg.

Drum design. Bosch Egypt names "Vario Drum" for even water distribution and no creasing. The Sharaf DG listings call it "Wave drum" or "WaveDrum". Our reading: those are probably the same drum design under different names, but no page says so.

LED display and a delayed finish. Bosch Egypt lists an LED display with an end-time or start-time delay of up to 24 hours. The UAE listings say LED display and, on the WAJ20180GC, a ready indicator.

Reload. Every source names it. You can add laundry after the start, if the machine allows it. We explain the display signals below.

Water protection. The Bosch regional pages list "multiple water protection", and the Sharaf DG pages repeat it. Our Serie 4 guide notes that Bosch gives the Serie 2 a simpler AquaStop tube than the higher ranges. What "multiple" covers is not itemised on the pages we read.

Sensors and controls. Both Bosch regional pages list a loading sensor, a self-adjusting water level, balance control, foam control and child safety devices. The UAE listings name unbalanced-load detection, foam detection and, for two codes, Aqua Sensor.

Other names on the UAE listings. The WAJ2017SGC page lists a "3D Aqua Spa wash system", an "electronic control dial", an "anti-vibration design" and a "childproof door lock, buzzer, metal door hook, and magnet lock". The Bosch regional pages name some of these in different words, such as "Anti Vibration Design". We repeat them as the retailer's wording and have not checked each against a Bosch source.

What it leaves out. Bosch Egypt's page lists no Home Connect, no i-DOS and no interior light for the WAJ2018SEG. Bosch Malaysia's page also lists no Home Connect, no i-DOS, no interior light, no Water plus, and no hot and cold water intake for the WAJ20180SG. Our reading of that last line: the machine has a single cold inlet.

Programmes and maximum loads: what a Bosch Serie 2-type manual says

The most useful table for a Serie 2 owner is the programme chart, because it states how much each programme can take. We could not find a manual that names the UAE codes. The manual for the WAK2020SIR is the closest we found: a 7 kg front loader with a 1000 rpm maximum, like the WAK20200GC. It is a similar code and not the same one, so use your own booklet for the exact figures.

Programme Maximum load Temperature Spin
Cottons 7 kg (4 kg with SpeedPerfect) Cold to 90 °C Up to 1000 rpm
Easy-Care 4 kg Cold to 60 °C Up to 1000 rpm
Quick/Mix 3.5 kg Cold to 40 °C Up to 1000 rpm
Delicates/Silk 2 kg Cold to 40 °C Up to 800 rpm
Wool 2 kg Cold to 40 °C Up to 800 rpm
Rinse 7 kg None Up to 1000 rpm
Spin/Drain 7 kg None Up to 1000 rpm
Super 30'/15' 3.5 kg (2 kg for the 15') Cold to 40 °C Up to 1000 rpm
Sportswear 2 kg Cold to 40 °C Up to 800 rpm
Outdoor 2 kg Cold to 40 °C Up to 800 rpm
AllergyPlus 7 kg (5 kg with SpeedPerfect) Cold to 60 °C Up to 1000 rpm
Shirts/Business 2 kg Cold to 60 °C Up to 800 rpm
Dark wash 3.5 kg Cold to 40 °C Up to 1000 rpm

A second manual, for the WAK2427XZA, gives the same loads with a 1200 rpm maximum on the cotton programmes. The manual says the maximum spin speed depends on the model.

What the table means in practice.

  • A 7 kg machine is a 7 kg machine for cottons only. Anything else is capped far lower: 4 kg for easy-care, 3.5 kg for mixed loads and dark wash, and 2 kg for delicates, wool, sportswear and shirts. A family washing mixed fabrics will rarely load 7 kg.
  • SpeedPerfect cuts the cotton load to 4 kg in this manual. A time-saving option is not free capacity.
  • The quick programmes are small-load programmes. The 15 minute cycle takes 2 kg and the 30 minute cycle 3.5 kg. This matters for the "quick wash" searches that lead here: a quick wash is for a few items.
  • Spin speed stops at 800 rpm for delicate fabrics, and at 1000 rpm on the others. You cannot make a Serie 2 of this type spin faster.
  • Maximum load is a dry weight. A Bosch manual we read warns not to exceed the maximum load of dry laundry. Weigh a load once on a bathroom scale so you know what 7 kg looks like.

Choosing 7 kg or 8 kg. The 8 kg WAJ20180GC listing names fewer programmes than the table above. It lists delicates, easy-care, whites and coloureds and a woollens hand wash, with quick wash and a 15 minute rapid cycle. We do not know its maximum loads. Our 8 kg guide covers the larger capacity in more detail.

How to use a Serie 2: symbols, reload and spin

The symbols below come from the WAK2020SIR manual. Your machine may use different glyphs for some of them, so match them to your booklet.

Display What the manual says it means
Temp. °C, rpm, Ready in The settings for the programme you selected. "Ready in" is the delayed finish time, in hours
Max load The maximum load for that programme, in kg
Progress symbols Wash, rinse, spin, programme duration or end
Door symbol You can open the door and add laundry
YES Laundry can be added
NO (flashing) Laundry cannot be added, usually because the water level or temperature is high
E The childproof lock is active
9 flashing Excess foam was detected, and an extra rinse was added
Flashing colon in "Ready in" Mains voltage is too low
Flashing dot Low voltage has extended the programme

Adding laundry (reload)

  1. Press Start/Pause (Start/Reload on the WAK2427XZA). That manual says the indicator flashes while the machine checks whether it can open.
  2. Wait until YES and the door symbol are both lit. Do not open the door before then.
  3. Open the door, add the item and close it.
  4. Press Start/Pause again to continue.

If NO flashes, the door is locked because the temperature or water level is high. Press Start/Pause to continue the programme and try later. Do not force the door.

Choosing the spin speed

Press the spin button repeatedly to cycle through the options up to the programme's maximum. The "– – –" setting is a rinse hold: the laundry stays in the final rinse water and the machine does not spin. The manual says this reduces creasing. If you choose it, the laundry stays in the water until you run a spin or drain, and NO on the display tells you the door cannot be opened while the water level is high.

Changing the programme

The WAK2427XZA manual says to press Start/Reload, select the new programme, then press Start/Reload again, and that the new programme starts from the beginning. Our washing machine reset guide covers cancelling and changing programmes in more detail, with the other Bosch manuals we read.

Detergent and the drawer

For the full compartment rules and dosing sources, see our detergent guide.

Both manuals describe three compartments. The one marked I is for prewash detergent. The one marked II is for main-wash detergent and additives. The third, marked with a symbol, is for fabric softener or starch. To clean the drawer, pull it out, press down the insert, remove the drawer, push the insert up from below, rinse everything with water and a brush, dry it, then refit it. The WAK2427XZA manual says to leave the drawer open so it can dry afterwards.

A quick wash that actually works

Based on the programme table: choose Super 15' for up to 2 kg or Super 30' for up to 3.5 kg, at no more than 40 °C. A full 7 kg load on a quick programme is outside what the manual allows, and we would expect poorer rinsing. That last point is our reasoning and not a Bosch statement.

The low-voltage indicators

The WAK2020SIR manual lists two signals about the supply: a flashing colon in "Ready in" for mains voltage that is too low, and a flashing dot when low voltage has extended the programme. If you see either, the machine is telling you about your supply, not about itself. Our suggestion is to note when it happens. We cannot say what causes it in your building.

Serie 2 or Serie 4?

The two ranges are close in size and look alike. Bosch's series table and the listings show the differences.

  • Capacity: the series table gives up to 7 kg for the Serie 2 and up to 8 kg for the Serie 4. The UAE Serie 4 models run to 9 kg in our Serie 4 guide, so the larger drum is the visible step.
  • Noise: the table's lowest figures are 59/77 dB for the Serie 2 and 53/73 dB for the Serie 4. The Serie 2 listings we found are quieter than 59 dB, so the table does not decide this.
  • Features: our Serie 4 guide lists AquaStop with a warranty against water damage, an LED display and ActiveWater Plus for the Serie 4. The Serie 2 listings name multiple water protection.
  • Spin: the UAE Serie 2 listings stop at 1000 rpm, and the UAE Serie 4 models are listed at 1400 rpm in our Serie 4 guide.

The Malaysian conflict. Bosch Malaysia calls the WAJ20180SG a Series 4, with the same size and spin as the Egyptian Series 2 WAJ2018SEG. If a UAE seller offers you a "Serie 4" with a WAJ20180 code, check the rating plate. A 1000 rpm, 8 kg machine with that code is the same hardware that Bosch Egypt calls a Serie 2.

Our reading: for one or two people washing mostly cottons and mixed small loads, the Serie 2 is enough. For a household of four or more, or a machine in an open-plan flat where noise matters, the higher spin speed and quieter running of the Serie 4 are worth pricing.

Which size: 6, 7 or 8 kg?

Three of the searches that bring people to this page ask about a 6 kg, 7 kg or 8 kg Serie 2.

6 kg. We found no 6 kg Serie 2 on UAE pages. Our model codes guide explains how Bosch's codes encode capacity. Do not assume a code gives a capacity until you have read the listing.

7 kg. The WAJ2017SGC and WAK20200GC. The programme table shows what 7 kg means: 7 kg of cottons, but 3.5 kg or less for most other loads.

8 kg. The WAJ20180GC. For a comparison of 8 kg machines across the ranges, see our 8 kg guide.

How to pick. Weigh a typical load for a week. If most weigh under 4 kg, the 7 kg is plenty. If you wash bed linen and towels together, look at 8 kg or more, and check the maximum cotton load in the booklet.

The door is locked, the lock symbol is on, or the buttons do nothing

These are the Serie 2 searches with the most urgency: "unlock", "locked", "lock symbol" and "child lock". The Serie 2 manuals give a clear answer for each, and our guides cover the detail.

The E symbol. In the WAK2020SIR and WAK2427XZA manuals, E means the childproof lock is active. Press and hold Start/Pause (or Start/Reload) for about five seconds to turn it on or off. The WAK2427XZA manual says you must turn it off before you can change a programme. If E flashes, the programme selector was turned after the lock was set: turn it back to the original programme.

The door will not open after the cycle. The manual's reload logic applies: the door stays locked while the temperature or water level is high, or while the drum turns. If the cycle has ended and the door is still locked, check the E symbol first. If the water has not drained, see our E18 guide.

The lock stays on after a power cut. On the newer Bosch manuals we cover in our reset guide, the child lock stays active after a power cut. We did not find this stated in the Serie 2-type manuals, so check yours.

Reset. Bosch's Serie 2-type manuals say that for other displays you should switch off, wait five seconds and switch on. If the display comes back, call after-sales service. Our reset guide gives the rest.

Cleaning the pump and filter

Searches for "filter clean" on a Serie 2 usually mean the drain filter (our washing machine filter guide compares what Bosch's pages say). The manuals we read do not describe one under that name.

What the manuals say. The WAK2020SIR manual describes the "detergent solution pump", and in the sections we read it does not describe a separate drain filter. The pump cover is accessed behind a service flap. The steps are:

  1. Let the water cool, turn off the tap, switch off and unplug the machine.
  2. Open and remove the service flap.
  3. Take the drain hose out of its retainer, remove the sealing cap, and drain the water into a container.
  4. Replace the cap and return the hose to its retainer.
  5. Carefully unscrew the pump cover. Residual water may leak out.
  6. Clean the inside, the thread and the pump housing. The impeller must turn freely.
  7. Refit and tighten the cover, with the handle upright, and refit the flap.
  8. To stop unused detergent draining away at once, pour 1 litre of water into compartment II and run the Empty programme.

The drain hose at the siphon. If the pump is clear, the manuals say to switch off and unplug the machine, loosen the clamp, remove the hose, clean it and the siphon connector, and refit it with the clamp.

The water supply filter. If the machine is slow to fill, both manuals describe a filter at the tap end of the hose. The WAK2427XZA manual says to turn off the tap, run a programme (not Rinse or Spin/Drain) for about 40 seconds, set the selector to Off and unplug the machine, then clean the filter with a small brush.

Do this with a towel and a tray. The manual warns that residual water may leak. We add that a tray and towel under the flap are worth the minute they take. That is our suggestion. For a fuller walk-through of draining and cleaning the pump, with the cases where it goes wrong, see our E18 guide. For a machine that does not fill, see the E17 guide.

Common Serie 2 problems

The Serie 2 manuals list a short set of fault displays. Here they are, with what we would check first.

Display What the manual says What we would check
E:17 Water supply problem. Open the tap fully, check for kinks, clean the filter The tap, the hose, then the filter at the tap end. See E17
E:18 The pump or drain is blocked. Clean the pump or the drain hose The pump, then the hose and siphon. See E18
E:23 Water in the base tub. Turn off the tap and call after-sales service Stop. This is a leak indication
9 flashing Excess foam was detected, and an extra rinse was added Too much detergent. Use less next time
Door symbol flashing Laundry may be caught. Reopen and close the door, then press Start A sock or strap in the seal
E The childproof lock is on Hold the button for about 5 seconds

E:23 is the one not to reset. The manual says to turn off the tap and call. Water in the base tub means a leak, and running the machine again moves more water through the leak.

Problems without a code. These apply to any front loader, and our washing machine repair page covers: a door that will not open, slow draining, a noisy drum on spin, a leak at the door seal and a machine that will not start. We do not have failure-rate data that would let us say the Serie 2 fails more or less than another range, and we are wary of anyone who claims to.

Noise and walking. A 7 or 8 kg machine at 1000 rpm can still shake if it is out of level. The Bosch regional page gives a maximum foot adjustability of 12 mm. Check the level with the door closed, and put a hand on each corner of the top to see if it rocks. A machine on a tiled floor in a flat should not move at all.

Overloading. Most easy-care and mixed loads are capped at 3.5 to 4 kg in the manual. A Bosch manual we read describes an unbalanced-load indication on spin: redistribute the laundry and spin again.

What a Serie 2 repair costs in Dubai

The AED 99 inspection includes the visit, the diagnosis and a written quote. If you approve the repair, the AED 99 comes off the repair price. If you decline, it is all you pay. The table shows typical prices by fault, all excluding 5% VAT.

Fault Usual cause Typical fix Time on site Price (AED)
Not draining Blocked pump filter, failed drain pump Clear filter, replace pump 45 to 90 min 150 – 320
Not filling Inlet filter, inlet valve Clean filter, replace valve 45 to 90 min 160 – 300
Not heating Scaled or burned-out element, temperature sensor Replace element or sensor 60 to 120 min 260 – 480
Leaking Worn door seal, loose or split hose, pump housing Replace seal, hose or housing 45 to 90 min 180 – 380
Not spinning Belt, motor wiring, imbalance sensor Replace the failed part 60 to 120 min 220 – 520
Won't start Door lock module, control board Replace lock or repair board 60 to 120 min 250 – 650
Door won't open Lock actuator, blocked drain Release door, replace actuator 45 to 90 min 160 – 340
Noisy drum Worn bearings, shock absorbers Replace bearings or dampers 2 to 4 hours 380 – 780
Control module fault Failed electronics Repair or replace module 60 to 150 min 320 – 750

Three things move a quote within its range. The part matters most: a drain pump costs far less than a control module. Access matters, since an integrated machine behind a cabinet door takes longer to pull out. And stock: if the part is not on the van, the price is the same but you wait for a second visit.

A worked example: your Serie 2 stops draining, and the technician finds the pump cover blocked by a coin and a hair grip. The all-in price is AED 180, including the AED 99 inspection. VAT adds AED 9, so you pay AED 189. If you decline, you pay AED 99 plus AED 4.95 VAT, a total of AED 103.95.

Payment is by card, cash or bank transfer, and every visit gets a VAT invoice with the part numbers listed.

Repair or replace a Serie 2?

Compare the written quote with the price of a comparable new machine. Our rule of thumb, which is ours and not a Bosch figure: if the repair costs more than about half of a new equivalent, or the machine is past about ten years and has had two serious faults, replace it.

The problem on this page is that we found no current UAE price for a new Serie 2. So here is how to do the sum without one:

  1. Ask a seller for today's price of the same code, or of the nearest in-stock model, in writing.
  2. Divide the quote by that price. Under about 30% is an easy repair. Between 30% and 50% is a judgement call. Over 50% points to replacing.
  3. Add what you lose by replacing: delivery, installation, and the old machine's removal.

The one UAE reference we have is a step up: one retailer listed the 9 kg Serie 4 WGA14400GC at AED 1,783.99 including VAT, reduced from AED 1,999, when we checked on 2 November 2026, as on our Serie 4 guide. It is not a Serie 2, and the price will have moved. As a rough guide only, a repair quote of AED 250 would be about 14% of that figure, and one of AED 780 would be about 44%.

  • Pump or valve fault, quote AED 180 to AED 320. Repair is usually worth it.
  • Door lock or seal, quote AED 160 to AED 380. Repair it unless the machine has other faults.
  • Bearings or a control module, quote AED 380 to AED 780. Repair is reasonable on a machine under about eight years old and in good condition. Above that, ask us what else shows wear.

A replacement also needs the right fit: the Serie 2 listings give 848 x 598 x 590 mm. For a longer schedule covering every Bosch appliance, see the maintenance table on our service center page.

Warranty, and who to contact first

The UAE Serie 2 listings we read state no warranty. Bosch Egypt's page shows a 5-year overall and 10-year motor warranty for its own market, which does not carry over. Check your invoice or warranty card.

If your machine is within warranty, call Bosch first. Our guide to authorised versus independent repair explains how to decide. If the warranty has ended, our 90-day warranty covers the repair we make.

What to tell us when you book

The more precise the booking, the more likely the first visit ends in a finished repair. Have these ready:

  • The full model code from the rating plate, on the door edge or inside the door frame. It tells us which Serie 2 you have, whatever the seller called it.
  • The symptom in your own words. "It fills but does not drain" is more useful than "it's broken".
  • Any code or symbol, and a photo of the display.
  • What you have already tried. Say if you checked the child lock, the tap filter or the pump.
  • The load. What you were washing, and roughly how much.
  • Age and history. How old the machine is and whether it has been repaired.
  • Access. Building name, apartment, parking, and any approval your building needs.

A short video of the fault, such as a noisy spin or a door that will not release, helps. Send it by WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Bosch Serie 2 washing machine?

It is the entry range of Bosch's four washing machine series. In the UAE we found 7 kg and 8 kg front loaders at up to 1000 rpm, with an LED display, Reload and multiple water protection, but no Home Connect or i-DOS.

How much does a Bosch Serie 2 washing machine cost in the UAE?

We found no current price. The Sharaf DG listings for the WAJ2017SGC, WAJ20180GC and WAK20200GC show none and were out of stock on 2 November 2026. Ask a seller for today's price in writing.

What is the spin speed of a Bosch Serie 2?

The UAE listings and both Bosch regional pages say a maximum of 1000 rpm. Bosch's series table gives a range up to 1400 rpm, so check your machine's rating plate.

Is a Bosch Serie 2 8 kg or 7 kg?

Both exist in the UAE listings. The WAJ2017SGC and WAK20200GC are 7 kg, and the WAJ20180GC is 8 kg. Bosch's series page says up to 7 kg, so the listing is the better guide.

How do I use the quick wash on a Bosch Serie 2?

In the manual we read, Super 15' takes up to 2 kg and Super 30' up to 3.5 kg, both at up to 40 °C. A full load on a quick programme is outside what the manual allows.

How do I unlock a Bosch Serie 2 washing machine?

If the E symbol shows, hold Start/Pause (or Start/Reload) for about five seconds. If the door is locked mid-cycle, it is locked while the water is hot or deep. Our reset guide covers both.

How do I clean the filter on a Bosch Serie 2?

The manuals we read describe a detergent solution pump behind the service flap and no separate drain filter. Unplug the machine, drain the water into a container, unscrew the pump cover and clean it. See our E18 guide.

Is a Serie 2 or a Serie 4 better for me?

For one or two people doing mostly cottons and small mixed loads, the Serie 2 may be enough. For a larger household, or where noise matters, price the Serie 4 as well. Bosch's own sites label the same hardware as Series 2 in one market and Series 4 in another, so check the rating plate.

Will a repair affect my warranty?

That depends on your warranty terms, and we cannot read them for you. If your machine is still in warranty, call Bosch first. If it has ended, our 90-day warranty covers the repair we make.
